(19 may. 1795, cond. de Anne Arundel, Md., EE.UU.–24 dic. 1873, Baltimore, Md.).

Comerciante y financista estadounidense. Trabajó con un tío como mayorista de abarrotes antes de formar la empresa mayorista Hopkins Brothers con sus hermanos, en 1819. La firma prosperó pronto en varios estados. Acostumbraba a aceptar sin reservas el pago en whisky por las mercancías, y luego lo vendía con la marca Hopkins' Best. En 1847, cuando jubiló, era un hombre rico aunque siguió invirtiendo en bienes raíces en Baltimore, y en el ferrocarril Baltimore and Ohio. En su testamento dejó US$7 millones para financiar el establecimiento de la Universidad Johns Hopkins y el Hospital Johns Hopkins; también dejó recursos a un orfelinato para niños afroamericanos.
